New technology for tracking and analysis of rat social behaviour

We will develop error-free identification and tracking of rats in a social context and analysis of social behaviour. We will focus on the recognition of behaviours related to HD and SCA17. Testing, validation and improvements of the system will be done using two novel transgenic rat models generated by the Department of Medical Genetics, Tuebingen, namely BACHD rats and transgenic SCA17 rats. Novel analyis methods and statistical algorithms will be utilized to translate the large data volume into a limited number of useful endpoints.
