Phenotypic assesment of fine motor, cognitive and emotional disturbances in a transgenic rat model for Spinocerebellar Ataxia 17 and use of identified read-outs in a gene-therapy study

We will extend previous findings in SCA17 rats with more sophisticated methods to assesss fine motor coordination and gait abnormalities and develop innovative behavioural paradigms to test for the cognitive and emotional impairments typically seen in SCA17.

The identified read-outs as well as immunohistocchemical and protein analyses will be used in the subsequent treatment study using Antisense Oligonucleotides.
